CASE STUDY: Last-Mile Extension, Aerospace Research Facility
SUMMARY: With so much development in the growing aerospace industry, one New York company is looking to make a difference in the delivery of satellite systems into the Earths' orbit. Their research facility is located on a airfield in an area known for companies such as Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin, this is an ideal location to test their propulsion systems.
CHALLENGE:
The one major setback to such an ideal location is - the location itself. Wireless LTE service is available but the connectivity speeds are barely registering as broadband. A wireless Point to Point with a nearby structure for high-speed Internet access would require extending the last-mile just a bit more than the local ISP can provide.
SOLUTION: Megaphat Networks deployed a single 1.2 Gbps Point to Point wireless solution that extends the last mile. Given the harsh heat and cold exposure of the seasons, using the right choice of cable to run the distance was vital. Upon verification the signal was -47dBm / -50dBm with only minor trees obstructing. Latency was under 2ms and we sucessfully transferred up to 880Mbps during tests.
